Buck Hummer and the Pick-Ups are one of Florida's last great Honky Tonk Bands. They were formed in the tradition of Ernest Tubb, Patsy Cline, Hank Snow, and Johnny Cash, with the close harmony of the Wilburn Brothers, Louvins or Crosby, Stills and Nash. The Buck Hummer and the Pick-Ups band blends true country with swing, blues, jump, and roots rockin'roll to get every group, six to sixty, on their feet. Professional, courteous and handsome, the band puts great chops with humor to make their show an event. With fifty years of combined experience, this Honky Tonk Super Group was formed by members of the Silver Dollar Band, Dakota, and the Tampa Smokes indie band, the Woodies. Members have performed across the U.S.A., Europe and have shared show bills with legends including Tom T. Hall, Dash Rip Rock and the late great Waylon Jennings. In addition to their original compositions, covers by Lefty Frizzell, Hank Thompson, BB King, Hank I, II, and III, Buddy Holly, and contemporaries such as The Mavericks, Mary Chapin-Carpenter, Steve Earle, Eric Clapton, and Bruce Springsteen keep young and old alike singin' and swingin! A gospel tune is never far away any day of the week, either! |
